This Auction turned out to be a huge success, and I was honored that my photos had the highest bidders. Click here to read about the results of the auction..
For the past few months I have been volunteering here in Portland Oregon for a non-profit called “Focus On Youth”, and it really is a nice opportunity for these youth to learn about photography, and get their minds off of some of the hardships they face each day.
From the website:
“The mission of Focus On Youth is to keep at-risk youth on the path to graduation using photography and mentoring to empower and inspire them to achieve academic success. Focus on Youth has been putting cameras in the hands of at-risk youth for the past seven years and we have seen them transformed by their experience. We believe that all individuals deserve respect, dignity, education and equitable chance to achieve their full potential. We value diversity and seek out inclusive partnerships with all members of our community.”
This is a non-profit organization truly dedicated to helping these youth. If you are able to donate a FRAMED FINE ART PRINT for the auction in May, it would be greatly appreciated. These prints really need to be of the best quality. A lot of you professionals out there can most likely write this off on your taxes, and it will really make a difference for these youth.

Jesse – Yay! Focus on Youth rules. Thanks so much for getting the word out!
Ma’alob K’inn Jesse,
It appears you and your peers are truly making a difference through FOY in the young lives of those residing in the Portland area. Far too few take the time to volunteer and make an impact on behalf of others in this life. My hat once again tips to you and yours for having a vision and concern beyond your respective lives for the benefit of those less fortunate and the courage to make a difference felt far beyond what you may ever know.
On a personal note, my wife and 13 y/o son recently returned from a week on the sugar sand beaches of Cozumel and under her pristine turquoise seas. The experience was mind blowing for us all having made many local friends we hope to see again. The staff where we stayed (Presidente Intercontinental) were simply ‘off the chart’s when it came to providing for our needs. I took many pictures both above and below the water with my wife’s Power Shot SX110IS with many fine results. If you’ve never been there; please consider researching that lovely piece of tropical paradise and making your way down there for a fine addition to your portfolio as well as to experience the overwhelming friendliness of the Mayan people. My life will never be the same.
Que’ desfrute’ el dia y la noche mi’ amigo,
~ rick ~
Thanks Rick! I appreciate you taking the time to visit and drop me a line. I think the auction went well, and I hope that somehow we are able to make a difference for these youth…
